When it comes to luxury off-roaders, it’s hard to compete with the smooth and action-bound cruising of the Range Rover. But what happens when your rides lose comfort and capability? Usually, the first culprit is a ripped or leaking air spring—but thankfully, the repair only takes around an hour and we have the replacement Range Rover L322 air spring at AEROSUS—order yours online today.
How Do You Install an AEROSUS Air Spring?
It’s now time to remove your faulty air suspension part and replace it with a fresh AEROSUS air spring. So, to get started, cover the basics—set your steering straight, unplug your battery, and get your SUV properly lifted—you’re now good to begin.
1. Remove Your Current Strut For the first order of business, you’ll want to remove your strut to access your faulty air spring. To begin, remove your wheel in front of the problematic air bag. Next, release the air pressure from your spring, including removing the well liner. Continue by removing the access valve block and disconnecting the air line to drain the air from your bag.
For getting your strut out of place, remove the brake hose and ABS sensor wire from the strut. You can now disconnect the sway bar end link and remove the bolts that are holding the strut in place. From here, you can remove the spindle assembly, upper bolts, and wire harness from your damper. Finish off by removing the three fasteners up top along with the air fitting on the air hose, and you can finally remove your strut.
2. Remove the Air Spring Now that your shock is out, remove the retention nut from the air spring assembly. You can also remove the nut, the washer on top, and the lock washer from the bottom. Finish off by discarding the O-ring seals on your shock, and you can finally remove your air spring. Finish off by cleaning the shock, and you’re ready for installation.
3. Install the AEROSUS Air Spring Start by installing the new O-ring and spacers on your AEROSUS air spring. Next, place the bump stop and washers in their proper locations. You can now slide the new air spring over your shock. From here, place the rubber mound over the shock shaft, install the black washer and nut, slide the washer over the end of the shock, and finish by placing the thread lock nut over the shaft of the shock.
4. Re-install Your Strut Now, it’s time to reconnect your strut, which essentially involves performing step 1 in reverse. You begin by putting the shock in proper position behind where your tire will go. Next, install the shock nuts and put the wire harness back into position. From here, you can re-install your damper and lock the component in place by installing the bolts where needed. You can now reinstall your airline, and reconnect the sway bar, sensor wire, brake hose, and ABS sensor wire. Finish off by reinstalling your wheel liner and wheel.
5. Finishing Up To finish your installation, lower your vehicle, reconnect your battery, and start your engine for a few minutes. For good measure, you can also perform a realignment to help get everything back in order.
