The BMW Air suspension compressor is required to operate the vehicle's air suspension system. It supplies the system with compressed air and regulates the air supply according to the driver settings. BMW revised certain 5-series models that are now called LCI - for facelift - after 2013, so you will need a different compressor for level control if you have a car that was built after this date.
Parts and installation
The AEROSUS compressor consists of three components: pressure housing, electric motor and air dryer unit. The supplied 5-PIN work basis must be replaced by you in any case. If there is no exchange, the 2-year warranty expires. The reason for this is that relay faults are a common cause of compressor damage. You will find the relay in the spare wheel well in the trunk of your BMW 5 Series. In the middle under the stern, near the bumper, you will find the compressor.
Leaking problem
If the level control is defective or the level control has failed, the air springs are usually leaky. The vehicle lowers on the rear axle overnight or is crooked. If the compressor has a runtime error, it takes too long for the vehicle level to change. The level control does not pump up or the compressor runs too long. The compressor no longer manages to provide the compressed air system with sufficient compressed air. The vehicle lowers on one side at the rear and is no longer able to change the height of the level. You lose stability, safety and driving comfort.
